Composters

Garden Composters

Composting is a wonderful way to dispose of your waste in an environmentally friendly way as well as making fertilizer at the same time. Many people choose to have compost piles in the backyard. This, however, can tend to attract vermin. This is the exact reason that many cities demand that compost be in a sealed container. Garden composters help considerably in this case. They are containers made specifically to make and hold compost. They are always made of a durable material, so containment is not a worry. They can also cut down on the work of composting. In order for material to compost in a shorter amount of time, it must be turned. This can be hard work, if not downright back breaking. Look for a garden composter that has a method of turning, whether by crank or some other method. This speeds the composting process along and keeps you clean and out of the compost. Many composters also have ways to separate the compost leachate. Leachate is the liquid that comes from the compost and is an extremely nutrient rich fertilizer.

Garden Gourmet Composter

The Garden Gourmet composter is a prime example of a top-of-the-line composter. It is very environmentally friendly, not only composting which is a very green way to dispose of waste, but it is made from %100 recycled plastic. It is specifically designed to not only attract and hold heat, but it also has a ventilation system allowing in air to speed the process of composting. The entrance is on the top with a lid and the finished compost is removed through a bottom drawer. You will need to stir the compost to both help it along and keep scents down. It is not a huge composter, so things such as leaves and grass clippings may be hard to fit. It will work the best if you keep it in the sun to help speed along the process. It is one of the less expensive composters on the market. Vermin will find this composter very difficult to get into, which is incredibly important for cleanliness.

Garden Drum Composter

Garden drum composters are good options for people who have more to compost and more space to store a composter and they are just what their name says. They are large drums in which to put your composting material. The benefit to some is that they are placed horizontally on a rotating base. This means that you can just rotate the drum and thereby avoid having to get into the compost and stir it.
