Gazebo
Though gazebos are usually depicted in elegant settings, such as weddings, a gazebo is any structure with a roof that offers a complete view of the surroundings. They can be used for any purpose that you can think of, such as relaxing, dining in the shade, sheltering your spa, offering you privacy from neighbors or for special occasions. However, your purpose should determine what type of gazebo you want, but the most popular and multi-purpose is the eight foot in diameter octagonal cedar gazebo. Think about if you want the sides of the gazebo open to the elements or if you would rather have some screens and glass panes. Some gazebos can also be built with a special material that blocks harmful UV rays, an important consideration if you have small children or sensitive skin. Whatever your purpose, the adaptability of a gazebo throughout time and the seasons should suit your purposes.
Once you have determined what purpose you want your gazebo to serve, you can decide the style of your gazebo. It can often be made to match your house, or in a different style depending on the materials, such as a metal modernist gazebo, white Victorian or a colorful playhouse for children.
Free Gazebo Plans
If you are looking for an eight-foot octagon gazebo, redwood gazebo, or western red cedar gazebo, free plans can be found online. These plans are complete with explanations and pictures. If you want a custom gazebo, many home improvement stores such as Home Depot or Lowe’s have carpenters that will come out to your house and assess your land. Often times if you just wish to go speak with them, they are very knowledgeable and can perhaps give you a few suggestions of what they have seen work and what they have seen that doesn't work. They may also have some designs there for a nominal fee, and then they will help you obtain all of the materials you need.
Vinyl Spa Gazebo
If you decide that you want a spa in your gazebo, it will be more expensive than a wooden one, but less expensive than a more durable metal gazebo. Vinyl gazebos are made to resemble natural materals: The white gazebo looks like a Victorian style white painted wood while the black vinyl gazebo looks like wrought iron. Though the price is more than a wood gazebo, vinyl is definitely the way to go for a spa gazebo. It won't need to be stained, weatherproofed and, especially, with the added moisture it won't rot.
