Hydroponics Kits

Hydroponic gardens are unlike a normal garden in that the plants are not potted in soil. It is not the soil but rather the nutrients within the soil that allow the plants to grow. With hydroponics the medium of soil is replaced by a nutrient solution. Because of such a nutrient-rich base, the plants grow faster and stronger.
Many people think hydroponics is a complicated practice however that is a common misconception. Hydrophonic kits do not require expensive pumps or timers as the process may lead one to believe. With experience, common household items can be turned into hydroponic equipment with the same quality product. Even if a beginner does not have the skill of an experienced gardener, inexpensive kits can do the trick.

While the equipment will differ depending on the kit, all kits offer some essentials to grow healthy plants. Adequate light, either naturally from the sun or artificially from a grow lamp, is essential for any plant life. Temperatures between 22 and 28 degrees Celsius, and humidity between 60 and 70 percent provide the best results. Like any living thing, the plants will also need protection from extreme weather and pests. Fresh air via a window or oscillating fan is also needed. Many home hydroponic builder kits come with a grow tray, a container with a drainage hole on one end. While these are the basics, some home hydroponics kits may include pumps for irrigation, timers, or other equipment.
While all the items listed above are necessary, without a grow media they mean nothing.

The grow media supports the root system of the plant, and it absorbs water and nutrients. Common forms included in the home hydroponic kits are rockwool, coconut fiber, light expanded clay aggregate (also called "grow rocks), oasis cubes, and a perlite and vermiculite combination. Even gravel, sawdust, and old rubber tires can be used to support the roots.

One disadvantage of the ease of hydroponics is that not all people want to use this knowledge to improve life. Many people are turning to marijuana hydroponic kits for more productive and efficient ways to keep their "businesses" growing. There are many weed hydroponics grow kit, and even more web sites and books dedicated to spreading the word of this growing method for a purpose that has no benefit.
